About Us
Swirl Nightclub is proudly organised and run as a not for profit venture by The Black Box Boys (part of the BBB GROUP) along with a dedicated team of hard working volunteers.
Each night features Live DJs, state of the art sound and lighting, a fully flat accessible venue, with accessible toilets & bar, close parking and much more. We run special nights and promotions throughout the year. We usually run on the last Tuesday of every month, between 7pm & 10pm.

We're home of the Ultimate Party Night, and that can't be possible without you, so grab your friends and come on down!
History
Swirl was formed in May 2009, with the first club night just 2 months later. After the outstanding success of this first night, Swirl became firmly cemented in the calendar each month and started to expand. After outgrowing the basement bar venue, and after 3 years we left our much loved venue of The Hat Factory, and made the exciting move to partner with commercial club Chicagos.
Unfortunately they entered administration just a couple of years later and we found our new home at SUB2 at the opposite end of town, in Luton. A few years down the line and SUB2 closes and we relocate to our next venue ClubCookies, but this time over in Dunstable.

This was also time for a rebrand, and we launched with the fresh new look you see today.

Why the name Swirl I hear you ask? Well it's more simple than you might think, we were sat in an office drinking tea, brainstorming cool names and the mug we were drinking from had a swirl pattern on it. Simple as that...

ClubCookies bit the dust in 2019 and after a short hiatus we settled into 'The Venue' in Dunstable. As with all nightlife and entertainment, coronavirus played a part in our activities and we moved online for 18 months whilst the virus took hold. However in 2022, Swirl made a triumphant return to where it all began, The Hat Factory and we are now based in their newly refurbished "Factory Floor" space to this very day.
Over the years, Swirl has played host to many different activities and events including, themed nights, karaoke rooms, exclusive hire cinema events, large cabaret celebrations such as One Big Night and who can forget our very own talent search The S Factor.

Running "Bedfordshire's Biggest Disability Nightclub" has certainly been an adventure and wouldn't be possible without all the help and volunteers over the years. We don't make any money here at Swirl, our model is based on keeping the project self sustaining, without relying on time consuming funding bids and fundraising activities.
We couldn't do this without our volunteers and partners such as The Culture Trust (who own The Hat Factory) so to them and all our volunteers over the years, we say THANK YOU.
But most of all we need you, so put on those dancing shoes, grab a drink from the bar and we'll see you on the dancefloor for many more years of Swirl Nightclub. :-)
Dress Code
No strict dress code but please,
dress to impress.
Box Office
Buy tickets in advance from the box office located at the Hat Factory, or via the website.
Space is always available on the door for walkups, we accept cash or card.
Parking
Parking is available at Bute Street shoppers carpark next door, there is plenty of space but this carpark does have a height bar of 2.1m.
Bar
We have a fully stocked bar with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and a selection of snacks. The bar is card only, however you can pay cash for tokens from the box office and exchange these for drinks.
